Liverpool have a problem with Alexander Isak that they never had with Darwin Nunez - opinion

Alexander Isak is yet to get properly up and running for Liverpool.

The Reds had a magnificent summer transfer window that looked like it had set them up well to defend their title, with the amount of quality added to their squad being simply scary.

However, almost none of the new arrivals have managed to make an impact as of yet, with the one who is struggling the most being Isak.

The Swede has faced many issues since arriving, but there is a much bigger worry than just his fitness issues.

This is because even Darwin Nunez did not have this problem during his time at Anfield, highlighting how big a worry it is.

Alexander Isak is getting no service

There is no denying Isak’s quality as he has shown it over the years at Newcastle, but at Liverpool he is yet to prove he is worth the money.

Although the fitness part is largely his fault, one thing that is out of his control is the service he gets from his teammates.

It does not matter how good a player is, if they barely touch the ball, then they cannot do anything with it, as proven in Isak’s case.

The striker has an xG this season of just 1.14 and has touched the ball just 14 times in the opposition box, showing how little service he is getting.

This was proven against Nottingham Forest as he touched the ball just 15 times in 68 minutes, with his presence being non-existent.

As for Nunez, though, when he was at Liverpool, he got chance after chance, he just was not very clinical.

This did not stop him getting the ball, however, highlighting that Isak’s teammates simply are not creating enough for him in this moment.

Alexander Isak also needs to work a little harder

Of course, he cannot do much about not being given the ball, but Isak can do a little more to be a bit of a nuisance.

Hugo Ekitike, for example, is very good at this, with the Frenchman’s energy a real problem for teams as even if he cannot get into the game, he tries his best to be involved.

Isak, however, needs to work on his link-up play and his movement, with this something that will help him be in the game more.

He definitely has not had the start to life he would have wanted, but with it still very early on in his Liverpool career, anything could happen.
