FERNDALE, MI - She stopped counting at 40 flavors of cheesecake. And out of all of her choices, her husband came up with one and only one: The Detroit Lions cheesecake.
LaDawn Morris owns Kitty’s Cheesecakes and More at 681 E. Eight Mile Rd. in Ferndale.
Her bakery has every flavor from Purple Rain as a tribute to Prince, to orange creamsicle, Biscoff cookie, Superman, sweet potato, and the bakery’s best seller, strawberry shortcake.
The Detroit Lions cheesecake is a combination of blueberry and lemon.
“My husband Edward is a die-hard Lions fan and the only cheesecake he has created is our Detroit Lions flavor,” Morris told MLive. “He loves it. It’s Honolulu blue. He loves it!”
Morris says she also bakes a half cheesecake, half cake of the Lions flavor.
“I had over 40 flavors of cheesecake before I stopped counting. We’re creating and making new ones all the time.”
Morris says she has rotating flavors on top of the bakery’s staples like caramel apple, banana pudding, lemon, and strawberry.
The Lions cheesecake is $55 for a whole. Other cheesecakes start at $50. Various flavors are also available by the slice for $8.
Kitty’s is open Tuesdays from Noon - 5 p.m., Wed. - Sat. from 11 a.m - 7 p.m. They are closed Sunday, but will also be open on Monday, November 24 the week of Thanksgiving.
