“I don’t believe it” – Cucurella says what lots of Chelsea fans are thinking about Palmer injury

As well as Enzo Maresca, Marc Cucurella also stepped up to the podium to speak to the press today. It was an appropriate time, given he’s about to face his old team.

“It’s very special game for me and my family,” the full back admitted.

“We have the opportunity to play Champions League, a special night. It’s always a good game [between the clubs]. Hopefully tomorrow we can do a good game and get the three points.

“It’s a big week. All the players want to play these games because they have a special feeling. All the people are focused and try their best. We have a good opportunity. We need to know it’s two big games, but it’s nothing more than three points,” Cucurella concluded.

As well as speaking about the game, Cucurella was asked about the crazy news we heard last week that Cole Palmer had broken his little toe just as he was set to return from his groin injury:

“To be fair, I don’t believe it [laughs]. These things can happen. It’s a big upset for us because he’s near to play and train with us, now he needs to rest. It’s part of football.”

It’s a fishy story, and while Cucurella was joking, he’s saying what a lot of fans are thinking. Still, if Cole is back playing next week this will all soon be forgotten.

In his presser, Enzo Maresca spoke a little about the increasingly impressive Marc Guiu, and what the striker might need to do to get into his plans more regularly.

Lamine Yamal was compared to Estevao Willian in the press conference, and you can imagine just how Enzo Maresca dealt with that comparison.
