They are now six points clear of Chelsea in second place, who they play against next weekend after their matchup with Bayern Munich in the Champions League during the week.

The Spurs game will live long in the memories of several Arsenal fans, and players, but none more so than Eberechi Eze, who scored a hat-trick against a Spurs side who he almost joined in the summer.

Winterburn hails “special” Arsenal star Eze

After his dominant performance against Tottenham with three goals, Eze has received praise from countless pundits and former players, and the latest is former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn. He made over 440 appearances for the Gunners during his career, winning three league titles, and two FA Cups.

Winterburn told us exclusively via BetBrain: “He’s [Eze] got it, he’s a player I love. Even when he wasn’t at Arsenal, even at Palace you could see that. The talent is there, just the things he can do that can change a game. I think that is what makes a player special, and obviously the hat trick yesterday, as we’ve seen, doesn’t happen very often in London derbies, so we have a special talent and I’m so happy he joined our football club.

“He won’t start every game, there will be some rotation there, but if he’s performing at that level, then he’s going to make it hard for Arteta to leave him out.”

Eze has taken on the attacking midfield role on amid Martin Odegaard’s injury. However, when the Arsenal captain returns from his injury over the next week or so, he could struggle to get back into the starting XI going by how well Eze has performed.
