The Giants made another move to their staff on Monday following an overtime loss to the Detroit Lions.

New York fired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday morning. The Giants defense allowed the third-most yards per game.

The Giants had a lead in the fourth quarter against Detroit, but allowed the Lions to force overtime and eventually win. Sunday marked the fifth time New York blew a lead of at least 10 points this season — tied for the most in a single year in NFL history — according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Sunday’s loss also eliminated the Giants from playoff contention.

Bowen was the Giants defensive coordinator for the last two seasons. It’s the second change the staff has seen this year after coach Brian Daboll was fired earlier this month.

The move comes ahead of New York’s Monday Night game against the 10-2 New England Patriots in Week 13 at Gillette Stadium.
