The Detroit Lions barely held on against the New York Giants in Week 12, winning in overtime against the now 2-10 squad already looking ahead at their draft positioning for 2026. The Lions needed a win with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears both winning their games on Sunday, and a win they got - regardless of how ugly it was.
They managed to seal that victory with a huge Jahmyr Gibbs touchdown on their first drive in overtime, and with a fourth-down sack delivered by Aidan Hutchinson that caused a turnover on downs and immediately ended the game. It was the first sack of the day for Hutchinson, who kept swinging but missing Jameis Winston in the pocket.
That one sack, which Hutchinson got from beating out Giants tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, was not received well by Eluemunor. At all.
Eluemunor gets brutally honest about Hutchinson's game-sealing sack
***"How do I say this respectfully: He did not do a damn thing all fu*king game. He strikes me as the type of guy that would try to celebrate that one play, but for most of the day I was on an island with him and he didn’t do anything. Obviously I’m pissed about the last play, but at the same time, there’s not much you can do. They know what you’re going to do and he still tries to give me his best move and I run him by the quarterback and he just manages to run back upfield and get the sack,"***said Eluemunor after the game per The Athletic's Dan Duggan.

By Eluemunor's own logic here, Hutchinson did do something in-game. He arguably did the most important "something" for Detroit's defense, which was putting a bow on the win for Detroit with that sack. He didn't give up on the play, which resulted in Winston getting dropped by Hutchinson despite Eluemunor's best efforts.
While we can sit here and complain about the lack of a pass rush the Lions have this season, we can't act like Hutchinson didn't contribute to the Lions' win with that key sack. Eluemunor's feelings were hurt, clearly, and he decided to take it out on Hutchinson in the postgame since Hutchinson celebrated securing a key victory ahead of Thanksgiving. Oh, the horror.
Detroit will have to recreate some of that clutch magic this Thursday, when they take on the Packers at home. Green Bay has been playing some tight games, with their offense falling flat as of late while their defense has been electric - sound familiar?
