Jaguars HC’s reaction of disbelief perfectly sums up the Trevor Lawrence experience

Nobody will deny that a win counts the same whether it was by an inch or a mile. However, the Jacksonville Jaguars made things significantly more difficult than they should've been when they trounced the Arizona Cardinals 27-24 in overtime.

Although the Jags got off to a strong start and dominated in all three phases of the game, they allowed Arizona to lurk around throughout the game. They even had a chance to put their NFC West foe down in the fourth quarter but failed to pull it off. One big reason was that Trevor Lawrence made several baffling mistakes that came back to haunt the Jags.

Lawrence went 18-of-30 for 256 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. On top of that, he had a fumbled return for a touchdown. That's four turnovers, and somehow Jacksonville managed to win in spite of the fifth-year quarterback. Liam Coen's reaction might've summed up the best the roller coaster of emotions the Jags dealt with in the overtime win.

Liam Coen couldn't believe Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence's interception

After Trevor Lawrence threw his second interception of the game, the broadcast caught Liam Coen reacting to the turnover. He was speechless, like most observers.

That was just one of three picks, though. Sometimes, quarterbacks will make a good throw, but their receiver fails to reel in the football. This wasn't the case, though. All of Lawrence's interceptions were bad throws, either underthrown or not well-placed. But in his defense, No. 16 also made several plays that put the Jaguars in a position to win the game.

His three touchdown passes were in traffic, and Lawrence also led the game-winning drive in overtime. On top of that, he used his left often to keep drives alive, totalling five totes for 29 yards. You could make the case that he helped the Jags as much as he shot them in the foot.

The Trevor Lawrence experience was on full display in the Jaguars' win vs. the Cardinals

Trevor Lawrence deserves praise for coming up clutch when the Jaguars needed him the most. On the other hand, they were in a precarious situation and nearly lost the game because he turned the ball over four times. Granted, the defense couldn't contain the Arizona offense at times, but it made a key stop in overtime to get the win.

Circling back to Lawrence, what's frustrating about his play is that he's shown that he's capable of performing at a high level. And against the Cardinals, he had more than enough help from his supporting cast, including tight end Brenton Strange, who's back in the fold after missing the past five games.

Strange, along with Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington, came through when Lawrence looked for them. Similarly, the offensive line gave up a respectable 11 pressures and just two sacks. To his credit, the 2021 first overall pick took accountability for his mistakes, pointing out that it's not sustainable to win games by turning the ball over four times.

"Obviously, we had four turnovers, and they were all on me, so I own that, and I gotta do my job and take care of the ball and not put our defense in tough spots," Lawrence told reporters after the game. "Totally get that and but I'm never gonna, never gonna play scared. I'm gonna continue to let it rip."

Lawrence continued, "And I think that's why we have a chance at the end of the day, is because you keep playing. So never gonna apologize for that. But I will say you cannot turn the ball over four times. So I own that. And no, I gotta clean that up, but I'll watch it and see what it was."

Ultimately, there's not much Trevor Lawrence can do but try to fix his mistakes and turn the page. The Jaguars will need him to play better if they want to turn into t legitimate playoff team.
