Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting advisor, Luís Campos, has confirmed that the club are weighing up acquiring a satellite club, in order to aid the development of their youth players.
Campos was speaking at a roundtable event, celebrating their academy’s 50th anniversary, attended by **Get French Football News.** PSG are looking to go further in their development of young talent and spend less on players, as confirmed by Campos.
The likes of Warren Zaire-Emery, Senny Mayulu, and even more recently, Ibrahim Mbaye and Quentin Ndjantou have come through PSG’s academy. It is a trend that Campos is keen to continue and the Portuguese director is looking at the global strategy, part of which could entail the acquisition of a satellite club.
_“We are looking at solutions. It isn’t easy and so we cannot rush,”_ said Campos, who has rejected the idea of a reserve side seeing the light of day, at least in the current climate. Due to the lack of competitiveness, their reserve side was abolished back in 2019.
_“We have to instil a more competitive setting. If French clubs take the U23 league seriously, it would allow us to move forward,”_ added PSG’s sporting director.
The privileged option, it would seem, however, is finding a satellite club, where their youth players would go out on loan to develop, much in the same way that BlueCo are – controversially – utilising RC Strasbourg Alsace.
