Federico Chiesa is reportedly being ‘closely monitored’ by four top Italian clubs, but a transfer journalist has claimed “the door remains closed” for now.
Federico Chiesa ‘closely watched’ by 4 Italian clubs
Chiesa continues to find himself on the bench for Liverpool, only being afforded two starts in the Carabao Cup this season.
A move back to Italy has regularly been rumoured as a result of his lack of playing time, and this week is no different with four clubs linked to the 28-year-old.
Juventus outlet Tutto Juve claim that Internazionale, AC Milan, Napoli and Roma are all “closely watching” Chiesa, with the two Milan clubs “seriously considering” a move.
While this isn’t the strongest of sources, reporter Fabrizio Romano has also spoken about a potential transfer.

He said on his YouTube channel: “I believe Italian clubs will be able to try again during the January window.
“The door was closed in the summer by Chiesa and Liverpool. They wanted to continue together.
“Today the door remains closed but if you ask me what happens on January 20, based on the circumstances, we should monitor the Chiesa situation in the final days of the window.”
Liverpool are short enough in attacking areas as it is, so unless Antoine Semenyo signs for the Reds, it is difficult to see Chiesa being sold in January.

More from This Is Anfield
With Liverpool falling to a second consecutive 3-0 defeat, there was plenty for supporters to debate amid the fallout from an Anfield loss to Forest. Sam Millne took a look at the topics on fans’ minds:
Mikel Arteta’s team are currently going at over 2.35 points per game, an average which would see them finish just above 89 points if it were to continue.
“To reach that tally now, the Reds would need to earn about 2.7 points per match and only drop roughly seven more points for the rest of the campaign – seems unlikely.

Liverpool FC: On this day

It proved quite the statement day in 2007, with Rafa Benitez sending a message to the owners as his side put three unanswered goals beyond Newcastle.
Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel were all on the scoresheet in the 3-0 win, which could have been messier for Sam Allardyce’s side if Fernando Torres had found his range.
Benitez was one of the big headlines, opting to wear a tracksuit following his statements in a pre-match press conference that “as always, I am focused on training and coaching my team.”
It is the level of pettiness that you love to see from a manager in the face of woeful owners.
