The 26-year-old has registered 11 goal involvements in 15 games this term and netted two at the weekend against SpVgg Greuther Furth.

German football expert Derek Rae, who commentates for ESPN, took to his X account on the weekend to heap praise on Hornby.

“Fraser Hornby had a dreamy Saturday in Darmstadt‘s 4:2 win with 2 superb goals,” Rae said.

“Continues to be one of the best performers in the 2. Bundesliga. Again – as with Burke – must ask people to judge the player now, as opposed to the one they may remember from a few years ago.”

With the way Hornby is developing, it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see him return to England in one of the transfer windows next year.
