Arsenal and Nottingham Forest both have the chance to freshen up their ranks with some signings in the January transfer window

Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table and are hoping to finally get their hands on the trophy this season. They have fallen short over the past few years but are looking strong this time around. The Gunners are six points clear ahead of Chelsea in 2nd position after 12 fixtures.

Mikel Arteta’s men beat rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 over the weekend in their latest outing. Eberechi Eze scored a hat-trick at the Emirates Stadium, whilst Leandro Trossard also managed to get himself on the scoresheet. They are back in action on Wednesday at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Arsenal linked with Murillo at Nottingham Forest

Murillo, 23, has been a key player for Forest since joining them in 2023. Prior to his move to England, he rose into the first-team of Corinthians and made 27 appearances before leaving South America for a new challenge. He has since become one of his current club’s most highly valued assets and has played 87 matches altogether, finding the net on three occasions from the back.

The Brazil international, who has one cap to his name so far in his career, would be a shrewd addition by the Gunners if they managed to lure him down to London. He would give them more competition and depth at the back and has potential to get better in the future. In addition, he has proved over recent times that he is a useful player at the top level.

Arsenal should propose swap deal to Nottingham Forest

Arsenal should try and pip Chelsea and Barcelona to Murillo’s signature by offering Nottingham Forest the chance to sign Ben White as part of a swap deal plus potential cash transaction. The defender has fallen out of favour under Arteta recently and his situation is in limbo right now. He has struggled to get into their starting XI ahead of the impressive Jurrien Timber and has seen his game time significantly dry up.

White, 28, needs to leave the Gunners for the sake of his career now and joining Sean Dyche’s side would be a sensible transfer for him. He would be guaranteed regular minutes and would also get European football still which is a bonus. The England international can play as either a right-back or in the centre so his versatility would come in handy.

The Poole-born man signed for Arsenal back in 2023 for a whopping £50 million after he caught the eye at Brighton and Hove Albion. He made 41 outings for the Seagulls and also picked up experience out on loan away from the AMEX Stadium at Newport County, Peterborough United and Leeds United to boost his development in the Football League as a youngster. White has since gone on to play 166 matches for the Gunners but has only featured once for them in the league this term meaning a departure soon wouldn’t be a surprise at all.
