Back in the summer, Liverpool showed plenty of promise in the transfer market and invested heavily in the first team squad. While there were a few important stars like Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz that left, the reinforcements were more than good enough to help the club retain the Premier League title.
Liverpool went about breaking the British transfer record twice in the summer window, first with the signing of Florian Wirtz and then Alexander Isak. Both those players have utterly struggled for relevance so far in the season, while the other signings have also been underperforming so far.
The many changes to the side, as well as the tactics of Arne Slot, have resulted in a major slump at the club. At the weekend, Liverpool suffered a harrowing home defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest, who were in 19th place at the time of kickoff.

Michael Edwards is ready to back Slot and even willing to allow him time until the end of the campaign to turn things around, even if their current position does not experience a massive upturn in form.
Liverpool are still active in the Champions League, while they could also have the chance to win the FA Cup later. Hence, the club are not keen to make a rushed decision on their manager, although the idea of a new contract may not be forthcoming, especially with the outside noises already calling for his head. However, Edwards hopes the Dutchman turns things around, but more importantly, has the fans’ backing in difficult times.
