There was a bizarre moment as Man Utd faced Everton in the Premier League on Monday night.
David Moyes’ side had started as the better of the two teams at Old Trafford, but were reduced to 10 men after just 13 minutes following a bizarre incident between two Everton teammates. United had just gone close to taking the lead through captain Bruno Fernandes when Everton midfielder Gueye launched a passionate attack on teammate Michael Keane for his role in the chance.
The Everton midfielder could be seen shouting at his defensive teammate before he appeared to strike him in the face. Referee Tony Harrington wasted little time in showing Gueye a straight red card as he was restrained by teammate Jordan Pickford.

Gueye was taunted by United supporters as he walked down the Old Trafford tunnel in disgrace after an incident that shifted the momentum in favour of Ruben Amorim’s side.
Taking to social media during the match, the Premier League Match Centre Account posted a statement that explained why the straight red card had been shown. “#MUNEVE – 13’ The referee’s call of red card to Gueye for violent conduct was checked and confirmed by VAR – with the action deemed to be a clear strike to the face of Keane.”
Speaking on Sky Sports match commentary, United great Gary Neville said: "How much venom was in that slap? He has been sent off for that. Was it a little slap or a proper whack? There is no doubt a hand comes out to the face but it didn't look too much. They might have had to send him off purely because there is a strike to the face."
