The Kansas City Chiefs were able to step up on Sunday and keep their playoff hopes alive with a 23-20 overtime home win against the Indianapolis Colts. In the game, they saw one of their Pro Bowl players leave with an injury and not return. There has been some clarity regarding the injury and what it means for his availability going forward.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw Pro Bowl right guard Trey Smith leave early in the first half against the Indianapolis Colts with an ankle injury. He would be officially ruled out at halftime and tests were done on the ankle to determine the severity of the injury.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport would report on Monday afternoon that Smith has been diagnosed with both high and low-ankle sprains. While there is no specific timetable, he is expected to miss time, especially with the Kansas City Chiefs having a short week, as they play on Thanksgiving Day on the road against the Dallas Cowboys.
For Week 12, the team moved backup offensive guard Mike Caliendo into his spot to wind up winning. However, there was a notable difference with the offense as running back Kareem Hunt was not able to run as effectively on inside run plays as he was earlier in the game.
It will be interesting to see how the Chiefs are able to move the ball without one of their top offensive linemen available going forward with their season essentially on the line.
