Green Bay Packers release long initial injury report ahead of Week 13 Thanksgiving matchup vs…

The Green Bay Packers have a short turnaround following their 23-6 dominant victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12. Up next, they will travel to play the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving (Thursday) this week, meaning that they are going to limit the amount of physical practice they have this week.

Of course, this is in an effort to allow the players to recover and be as healthy as possible for what is an important game in terms of NFC North and NFC Conference standings. Currently, the 7-3-1 Packers are in second place in the NFC North while the 7-4 Lions are in third. Currently, Green Bay holds the sixth seed in the NFC playoff picture while the Lions are on the outside looking in with the eighth seed.

With both teams having a plethora of NFC North opponents over the last six weeks of the season, it is important for both teams to be as healthy as possible for their matchup on Thursday. On Monday, the Packers released a long initial injury report for this week’s game.

Over the course of the season, many fans have been making jokes that Green Bay’s weekly injury reports look like a CVS receipt, and this week’s initial injury report is no different.

It is important to note that the Packers did not practice on Monday. Rather, the participation designations are estimates on what the players would have been able to do if they had held practice:

Takeaways from the Green Bay Packers injury report

Van Ness returned in Week 12 for the first time since Week Six, but appears to be hurt again. It will be interesting to see if he is available for Thursday.

Golden missed the Vikings game with a shoulder injury. Now he is listed with a wrist injury.

Jacobs and Hobbs appear poised to be able to play on Thursday.

Nixon was injured after colliding with his own teammate on the sideline. Green Bay’s cornerback depth will be seriously challenged if/when he cannot play Thursday.

Reed’s 21-day practice window to return from IR was opened last week. If he cannot play on Thanksgiving, it is likely he makes his return in Week 14 against the Chicago Bears.
