United performed poorly against Everton.
Manchester United lost 1-0 against Everton in the Premier League on Monday evening. Everton went down to 10 men just 13 minutes into the game when Idrissa Gueye was shown a red card for slapping his own teammate.
Despite the early sending off, Everton were the better side and deserved to draw first blood through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who beat Senne Lammens from the edge of the box. United pushed for an equaliser but couldn't find a breakthrough as Jordan Pickford denied Joshua Zirkzee with an excellent late save.
Here are how [United's](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/manchester-united-fc) players rated at Old Trafford:
**Senne Lammens**
Should have done better for Dewsbury-Hall's strike. His starting position made it difficult for him to get across to his left-hand side. 5
**Leny Yoro**
Didn't commit to the challenge when Dewsbury-Hall picked up the ball on the edge of the box, which proved costly. 5
**Matthijs de Ligt**
Was caught out of position a few times when Everton looked dangerous in the first half. Didn't have much to do after the break when United finally started to ask a few questions. 5
**Luke Shaw**
Made an excellent challenge at the beginning of the second half and tried to rally his teammates as Everton held onto their one-goal advantage. 5
**Noussair Mazraoui**
Didn't offer much going forward in the first 45 minutes and was hooked at the interval in a tactical tweak from Amorim. 4
**Casemiro**
Although Casemiro has become an influential figure again this season he looked like a 33-year-old and was passive. It wasn't a surprise to see him substituted in the 58th minute. 4
**Bruno Fernandes**
His passing was sloppy at times and he resorted to shooting from distance in an effort to get United back into the contest. Wasted a big chance from close range with 20 minutes remaining. 4
**Patrick Dorgu**
Looks low on confidence and was poor again at Old Trafford. He missed a decent chance in the first half - his end product must improve - and is likely to be replaced by Dalot at the weekend. 3
**Bryan Mbeumo**
The international break had the potential to disrupt Mbeumo's momentum. The 26-year-old showed determination on a night when United weren't at the races for large parts. 5
**Amad**
Was probably the pick of a bad bunch in the first half. Amad relocated to right wing-back when Mazraoui was brought off and he was still involved in most attacking phases of play. 5
**Joshua Zirkzee**
The highlight of Zirkzee's first half was his heated exchange with James Tarkowski. The Dutchman made his first start of the campaign and didn't do much until drawing a late save from Pickford. 4
**Mason Mount**
Made a difference when he came on. 6
**Diogo Dalot**
An improvement on Dorgu. 5
**Kobbie Mainoo**
Tried his best. 5
