“Rigged like the NBA”: NFL fans react as Donald Trump blasts Giants HC Mike Kafka for…

The New York Giants faced a disappointing 34-27 overtime loss against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in a week 12 showdown.

With a 3-point lead in his hands, Giants head coach Mike Kafka made a controversial call with just around 3 minutes left in the game, which was called out by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

While the Giants could increase their lead by 6 points in total by kicking a field goal, instead, quarterback Jameis Winston overthrew the ball to tight end Theo Johnson, which ended up in the Detroit Lions’ marching down the field and kicking a field goal, which resulted in a tie.

After the game, Trump took to Twitter to question Kafka’s call for not kicking the field goal, asking who would’ve done such a thing, and calling the move, “CRAZY.”

Trump’s reaction drew various kinds of reactions from the fans:

I got to watch the end of the game and thought, when they went for the touchdown instead of the 3, ‘That’s Weird!!!.” Trump wrote.

“Same with the Dallas game yesterday. However, they did end up winning but I found it strange.. my thought immediately went to … possibly a rigged game due to a bet! I hate that that even crossed my mind.” one fan added.

“Because pro sports are rigged. Everyone knows that.” another fan highlighted.

“What’s weird? Is the president of the United States tweeting about a football game.” another fan commented.

“Watch the Ole Miss/ Kentucky football game at the end. The Vegas line was made by the field goal. They needed a touchdown to matter. Wondering why they kicked the field goal. The announcers were perplexed to say the least. Hrrmm.” another fan pointed out.

“What a bunch of dumb conspiritards. Giants, who basically have nothing to play for tried to ice the game by going for the TD. Had they kicked the FG, they still were in jeopardy of losing the game. They played to win. STFU and stay in your lane.” another fan added.

“It almost made it looked rigged for sports betting.” another fan said.

Mike Kafka Gets Real on Firing Giants Defensive Coordinator Shane Bowen

Mike Kafka was hired by the Giants in 2024 after he spent three years as the defensive coordinator at Tennessee.

A few days after the Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll, Mike Kafka, who is the interim head coach, made a bold call to fire Bowen and release him from his duties, which came as a surprise to the fans, as he had previously reaffirmed his support for the defensive coordinator, despite the team’s defensive struggles.

Talking about his decision on Monday during a press conference, Kafka said that when he got the job, he didn’t want to make any rash decisions or jump into anything too quickly. He shared that he wanted to evaluate the situation and then figure out what the best thing to do was, and eventually came to the decision that now was the right time.

“Wanted to be calculated in how I handled it, and I thought today was the right time.”

Outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen was announced as the interim defensive coordinator for the Giants.
