Kansas City Chiefs Named on PFF Week 12 Team of the Week

The Kansas City Chiefs had a strong showing as they were able to come from behind in Week 12 and defeat the Indianapolis Colts at home in overtime 23-20. The team stepped up, specifically in the second half and overtime period of the game, and looked like the team we have seen for the better part of the previous decade.

Pro Football Focus gave the Kansas City Chiefs their flowers for the performance by placing one of their units in the Week 12 Team of the Week. Let’s take a deeper dive into who they credited and what they said about them.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a strong showing from their offensive line in Week 12 and Pro Football Focus noticed the efforts. PFF’s NFL Analyst Gordon McGuinness constructed their team of the week and discussed why the Chiefs were named the ‘Offensive Line of the Week’.

“The Chiefs offensive line delivered a strong performance in pass protection, with right guard Trey Smith the only starter not to earn a PFF pass-blocking grade above 75.0 in the win. After years of inconsistency at left tackle, Kansas City should be encouraged by how well rookie Josh Simmons is playing – the former Ohio State standout has now posted a 70.0-plus pass-blocking grade in five of his seven games this season.”

This is certainly a major boost for the team as they saw Pro Bowl right guard Trey Smith leave early in the game with an ankle injury. It will be interesting to see if the offensive line can have a repeat performance as they take on the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday for Week 13 on Thanksgiving Day.
