The Denver Broncos likely won’t have to face Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels on Sunday.
The 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year dislocated his elbow against the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 2 and is still recovering. Washington is coming of its bye, just like Denver, and Daniels made some news on Monday — but things aren’t trending in the right direction.

With Jayden Daniels being a “long-shot” to face the Broncos, one of the best defenses in the league is in line to take on Commanders backup QB Marcus Mariota.
The veteran has appeared in seven games for Washington this season, throwing for a little more than 1,000 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s been sacked 10 times and is completing about 65 percent of his passes.
The Commanders were a surprise team last year, making it all the way to the NFC Championship Game. But things have gone downhill this season, with Washington posting a poor 3-8 record and never being able to get healthy, starting with Jayden Daniels.
He’s played in only six total games and it doesn’t sound like his seventh against the Broncos on Sunday night is in the cards. Denver QB Bo Nix, who finished third in OROTY voting a season ago, has the Broncos at 9-2 and atop the AFC West. Denver is also riding an eight-game winning streak.
When the schedule came out, many circled Nix against Jayden Daniels. It sounds like only one of the two will be on the field this weekend.
We’ll know more on Wednesday when the first practice reports before the contest officially drop.
