Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase issues apology to team on social media

The Cincinnati Bengals dropped a tough one to the New England Patriots on Sunday. It was a game that many didn’t expect to be close; however, the Bengals had a chance until the end.

Cincinnati would have had a much better chance to win the game if they had star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase on the field.

Chase faced a one-game suspension after the spitting incident that took place one week earlier. The Bengals star was caught on every field camera spitting on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey.

It was a tough loss for the Bengals, and one they can’t afford as the hopes of making the postseason slipped through their fingertips.

On Monday, Chase shared an apology to his team on his official Instagram account.

“To my team, fans, the Bengals organization, the Steelers organization, and the NFL community:

Please know that I’m speaking from the heart when I say I take full responsibility for my actions during last Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh,” wrote Chase.

“What I did was wrong. The circumstances don’t matter. My passion for the game is no excuse. There’s zero place in our sport-or in life- for that level of disrespect.”

What Went Down?

Shortly after the incident on the field, Chase told the media he did not spit on Ramsey.

Fans were quick to discover that Chase may not have been telling the complete truth with his postgame comments about the incident.

Chase is on the apology tour, and rightfully so. However, having $500,000 taken out of your pocket may have you doing whatever it takes to get back in the good graces of the league.

One poor decision on the field could have altered the Bengals’ season in a big way. Not that they look like a postseason threat. But I’m sure the fanbase would like to see them fight this thing out as the season ends.

Just don’t go spitting on folks.
