San Francisco played turnover-free football for just the second time this season in the win. Linebacker Tatum Bethune (ankle) and kicker Eddy Piñeiro (hamstring) are out for Monday night, with linebacker Robert Beal (concussion) listed as doubtful and linebacker Luke Gifford (hip) questionable.
The Panthers are ninth in the NFC playoff standings but can claim a half-game lead over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South with a victory on Monday night. Carolina lost the lead late in regulation before Ryan Fitzgerald kicked a 28-yard field goal in overtime to deliver a 30-27 road win over the Atlanta Falcons last week. Bryce Young threw for 448 yards and three touchdowns, with Tetairoa McMillan catching eight passes for 130 yards and two scores. The team won't have center Cade Mays (ankle) or linebackers Christian Rozeboom (hip) and Trevin Wallace (shoulder) against the 49ers.
The game marks the first time McCaffrey will face Carolina since the October 2022 trade that sent him from the Panthers to San Francisco. The 49ers have beaten the Panthers the last two times they've met, including a 37-15 road win on Oct. 9, 2022, a game played 12 days before the McCaffrey trade.
