Former NBA Star flashes brilliance for Herd, but efficiency holds key to comeback

Victor Oladipo, two-time NBA All-Star and guard for the Milwaukee Bucks’ G-League affiliate Wisconsin Herd, is pushing to make his way back to the league. He’s flashed plenty of skill during his short time in Oshkosh, but his scoring needs to become more efficient if he wants to command attention from NBA teams.

After four games with the Herd, Oladipo is averaging 12.8 points while taking 13.5 shots per game. He’s connecting on just 38.9 percent of his attempts, including 30.4 percent from three-point range. While he’s flashed his offensive skill with transition dunks and deep threes, his overall inefficiency has limited his impact.

Some of Oladipo’s inefficiency likely stems from the small sample size. In only four games, he’s still finding his footing with new teammates and coaches. Once he settles in and develops chemistry, his scoring could surge. Given his All-Star pedigree, he should be a dominant force at this level.

Even though his scoring hasn’t fully clicked, Oladipo has contributed in plenty of other ways. He’s putting up 4.5 rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game, showing he can impact all facets for the Herd. The next step is pairing that all-around play with efficient scoring, a combination that would grab the attention of NBA teams seeking depth and reinforcements.

Being on their G League roster means the Milwaukee Bucks are likely keeping a close watch on Oladipo. As a two-time All-Star with two-way capabilities, even with his injury history, he could offer a spark to a team that has been stagnant lately.

That said, Oladipo needs to produce more consistent game film before any team can confidently make a move for him.

Pairing Oladipo with Pete Nance creates an exciting combination. Nance is putting up 21.8 points, eight rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game, showing he also deserves more attention. Once Oladipo starts hitting his shots consistently, this duo could become a dynamic one-two punch for the Herd.
