Liverpool have a quick turnaround to action when they face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League at Anfield on Wednesday (20.00 GMT).
A clash in the European competition may be welcome news for the Reds given their dire form in the Premier League. The 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest was Liverpool’s sixth defeat in seven top-flight games, which has ended their hopes of defending the title. They sit 11th in the table and 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.
In fairness to Liverpool, they have had few issues in the Champions League. Last time out, they earned a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid, while they have also defeated Atletico Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt. If the Reds are to win a major trophy this season, Europe is their hope and many feels the squad is more suited to it.
A win for Arne Slot over PSV Eindhoven will unlikely take any pressure off him, though. In truth, it is a fixture that Liverpool are expected to triumph comfortably. While PSV are six points clear at the top of the Dutch table, it is a division far weaker than the Premier League. Eindhoven have earned victory in only one of their four Champions League games so far.

Jeremie Frimpong - out
The summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen remains unavailable as he has a hamstring problem. Frimpong has missed the past nine games.
Florian Wirtz - doubt
The attacking midfielder was absent against Forest as he sustained an issue representing Germany. Wirtz’s problem is not as severe as Bradley’s so he could be back.
Giovanni Leoni - out
The 18-year-old centre-back is recovering from an ACL injury he picked up on his Liverpool debut in Southampton.
Calvin Ramsay - out
The right-back was an unused substitute against Forest - the first time he was included in a Premier League squad for three years. However, Ramsay has not been included in Liverpool’s squad for the Champions League so cannot help make up the numbers.
Stefan Bajcetic - out
The midfielder is still to make an appearance this season after having hamstring surgery in the summer. Bajcetic has also not been named in the Reds’ squad for the European competition.
Jayden Danns - out
The well-regarded teenage striker remains unavailable because of a hamstring problem. He would otherwise be on the bench.
PSV team news
Ruben van Bommel - out
The winger suffered a serious knee injury earlier this season and won’t play again until next term.
Alassane Plea - out
The forward picked up cartilage damage to his knee at the beginning of the campaign and isn’t expected to play until next year.
