U19s preview: Arsenal v Bayern Munich

Our under-19s continue their UEFA Youth League campaign with a home tie against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, November 26 at Mangata Developments Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 1pm (UK time).

We’ll be looking for our first points of our European campaign, having lost our opening four games to Athletic Club, Olympiacos, Atletico Madrid and Slavia Prague.

The top 22 sides progress from the 36-team league phase, and for us to achieve such a finish, we’ll need to beat Bayern on Wednesday and then take all three points in Belgium against Club Brugge in our final game.

THE OPPOSITION

Bayern Munich have also had a difficult European campaign so far, collecting three points from their four matches.

The German side were beaten 3-2 by Chelsea in an entertaining opening game, before thrashing Pafos 3-0 in Cyprus.

Since that victory though, it’s been a struggle for Bayern, losing back-to-back games at home to Club Brugge and away to Paris Saint-Germain.

Both matches ended in 3-0 defeats for the German side, and in both games they were reduced to 10 men through late red cards.

Domestically however, Bayern have been flying, winning seven of their nine games to top their Bundesliga U19 group by three points with a game in hand on second-place Freiburg.

HOW TO FOLLOW

For those who aren’t travelling to Meadow Park, the game will be streamed live on Arsenal.com and on the official app for free, with coverage starting at 12.55pm (UK time). Updates will also be available on our academy X channel throughout the game.
