Idrissa Gueye’s Everton career has to be over after his red card against Manchester United on Monday.

Gueye was sent off in the 13th minute at Old Trafford after slapping teammate Michael Keane.

While Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall managed to still get the winner to ensure Everton become the first Premier League team to get a victory at Old Trafford with 10 players, it is still unacceptable what Gueye did.

Now, Moyes should look to move on from the midfielder after his moment of madness.

Idrissa Gueye can never play for Everton again

Whether the red card was deserved or not, Gueye’s Everton career has to be over.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

What the midfielder did was completely and utterly stupid, and could have easily resulted in a massive defeat at Old Trafford.

Gueye’s Everton future was already in doubt before the match, with the Senegal international out of contract in the summer.

Now, the scenes at Old Trafford should make up Moyes’ mind and allow the star to be released in the summer.

The Scotsman and the rest of the Toffees’ squad surely won’t be able to fully trust Gueye again on the pitch after the incident.

Gueye is out of contract in the summer

Everton do have an option to extend it by another year

However, Moyes should instead let him depart

Everton have plenty of good upcoming players in midfield, including James Garner, Tim Iroegbunam, and Harrison Armstrong, who is shining on loan to Preston.

With Gueye potentially not available for Everton until January due to his suspension and AFCON, this is the perfect time to put more faith into these players and allow them to replace the midfielder in the starting XI.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: Gueye red card moment of madness

Given his superb performance, Sky Sports on 24 November were more than happy to speak to Dewsbury-Hall after the match.

The Dewsbury-Hall was one of the stars of the show at Old Trafford, and continued his fine form since his summer transfer with another goal.

Looking back on the incident with Gueye, the Englishman could not believe what happened.

He said: “We started really well – the situation happened. It was a moment of madness, avoidable.

“But all I can say is Idrissa has apologised to us at full-time, said his piece, and that’s all he can do. We move on from it.

“The reaction from us was unbelievable. Top tier. We could have crumbled, but if anything, it made us grow.

“He [Moyes, at half-time] just said: that’s done now. We’ll deal with that another time. It was about keeping to the plan we had. He made sure we do the right things, continue what we’re doing. We can’t change that now, second half we continued to do that.”
