Liverpool eye move for£130 million ex-Premier League star

Liverpool will hope for some respite from their dismal run of domestic form when they host PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Reds have lost six of their last seven Premier League games and looks almost certain to fail to defend their crown, having cruised to the title last term.

Arne Slot’s side were beaten 3-0 by struggling Nottingham Forest at Anfield in their last outing on Saturday, leaving them 11th in the top flight standings.

With that in mind, it appears that the Merseyside outfit are now plotting a huge move to sign a former Premier League star.

As per CaughtOffside, Liverpool are considering an audacious move to sign Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise.

It is claimed that the Reds have identified the Frenchman as their ideal candidate to act as a long-term replacement for talisman Mohamed Salah, who who turns 34 next summer.

Olise, 23, joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 and has since played 73 times for the German side, scoring 29 goals and providing 33 assists.

It is claimed that the France international has emerged as Liverpool’s top target to replace Salah, who has just over 18 months remaining on his current contract at Anfield.

Liverpool could face stiff competition in the race to sign the winger, though, with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United also said to be interested in the player.

Spanish champions Barcelona are also said to be a team to watch in the race to sign Olise.

Despite Olise’s importance to Vincent Kompany’s side, the report suggests that the Bundesliga champions could consider selling the Frenchman if they receive an offer in the region of £120 million for the player.

Liverpool’s interest in Olise comes despite the Reds spending well in excess of £400 million on new signings over the summer, with Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak among those to have arrived at Anfield.
