Leading the NBA in scoring average so far, with 34.5 per game, Luka Doncic continues recording historic numbers in the Los Angeles Lakers shirt - and he only needed 12 matches in the 2025-26 season to do this once again.
Luka Doncic's historic record
The Slovenian was not joking when he said how seriously he would take his first full season in Los Angeles. After weight loss and improved fitness, he not only leads the league in points, but also became the fastest player in history to surpass 400 points and 100 assists in a season start.

In 12 matches, Luka has already totalled 414 points and 107 assists. In his first five games, Doncic had already reached a record by being only the third player in history to reach 200 points. The only two marks above this were Wilt Chamberlain's, in 1961 and 1962, with 256 and 264 points respectively.
This number even left Michael Jordan behind. His points record in the first five games of the regular season was 197.
NBA scoring leader
Besides establishing a new NBA record, Luka Doncic also leads the league in points in the current season. The second-highest average in the league belongs to Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers, with 33.5 points per game.
