Manchester United suffered a first defeat in five on Monday night against Everton, with the performance leaving fans at a loss for words.
Heading into Monday night, Manchester United were supposed to continue building momentum against a mid-table Everton side who won’t have expected victory.
This confidence around Old Trafford grew after the Toffees went down to 10 men, but United then went on to concede and create virtually nothing in terms of clear chances.
Who was the most DISAPPOINTING Man Utd player vs Everton?
It was a tough watch as United lost 1-0 to 10-man Everton, and Old Trafford let the players and Ruben Amorim know exactly how they were feeling.
But the head coach’s reaction spoke volumes.

Manchester United fans were chanting ‘attack, attack, attack’ against Everton
It was a dire performance from United against Everton, and Amorim got plenty of decisions wrong, none more so than how defensively the team remained throughout the entire game despite chasing a goal.
Passes backwards, and the presence of three centre-backs on the pitch for the duration led to groans and complaints from the stands.
In the 78th minute, this led to a chorus of ‘attack, attack, attack’ chants, which are a take-back to the days of Louis van Gaal and the opinion from the fans was spot on as United showed zero intensity in attack.

The chants are the last thing a United manager wants to hear, as they know attacking football is a necessity at the club, and upon hearing this, Amorim reacted.
Stood right on the touchline, Amorim immediately began screaming to his players and gesturing toward the Everton goal, and when a pass then went backward, he threw his arms in the air and turned his back on the game in anger.
Amorim clearly wants to see more attacking play; however, he cannot solely blame the players.
Ruben Amorim needs to make tweaks to his Manchester United system
Manchester United’s performance against Everton, while poor, was not surprising, as it has been coming and we’ve seen it before under Amorim.
Amorim admitted he’s worried about repeating mistakes at United, but he already has in terms of his persistence with the system and having no plan B.
Going forward, especially in games when United are chasing goals, he needs to break the back-three rule and make the system more attacking.
This would have been as simple as putting Shea Lacey on for Patrick Dorgu instead of Diogo Dalot, or bringing more attackers on the bench from the academy.
Suddenly, Crystal Palace has become a must-win.
