Yannick Bolasie has slammed Gary Neville for trying to be the 'second coming of Pep Guardiola' while commentating on Everton's 1-0 win over Manchester United. The former Reds defender was in the gantry at Old Trafford on Monday night as Kieran Dewsbury-Hall fired the Toffees to victory.
The visitors were down to 10-men inside the opening quarter of an hour after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for going head-to-head with his own teammate, Michael Keane. A few moments later, the former Chelsea midfielder fired Everton in front with a superb effort from the edge of the box.
United enjoyed the lion's share of possession for the remainder of the match, but they couldn't break down the Toffees' defence. Neville grew audibly frustrated as his old club failed to find a leveller, and by the 60-minute mark, Bolasie had had enough.
The former Everton winger criticised Neville for 'giggling all over the microphone' and believing he's the 'second coming of Guardiola'. On X, previously known as Twitter, Bolasie posted: "I'm watching this game on mute [crying with laughter emoji].
"I respect opinions but not when he's giggling all over the mic thinking he's the second coming of Guardiola, allow it... great player but the tactics give it a rest laaaad."
Thousands of Sky Sports customers seemed to share Bolasie's opinion, with his message garnering more than 14,000 likes. One person, using the handle @HalfMastermind, replies: "What a legend Yannick, Cook that Valancia flop."

Even a Liverpool supporter, @LFCANONYMOUS27, leapt to Bolasie's defence, writing: "Everyone talking about his pl titles mind you he said nothing about him as a player and we all know how it ended when he tried to play manager."
Meanwhile, an Arsenal fan, @snowflake_tv, posted: "I donno why you guys hate him that much. He is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) pundits today.
"He is always bang on with his analysis. Not quite the same for predictions as football is so unpredictable. He is always backing his arguments with reason, facts and logic."

After the game, Neville provided a brutally honest assessment of United's performance. Speaking on his podcast, the Red Devils legend claimed his former side were 'complacent', and the result could 'erode trust' in the dressing room.
"It just smelt of complacency," said Neville. "They weren't at it from the beginning. That is a bad one for United. I think they've been a lot better in the last few weeks. That probably takes us back to Brentford away.
"You can't go from the fight that they showed in certain games to that. It just erodes confidence, it erodes trust. We're trying to build a trust in a manager, we're trying to build a trust in a team.
"The fans booed collectively at the end. It was loud, and rightly so. That was a really poor performance. It's almost as if you've gone sort of like two or three steps forward, everyone's feeling a little bit better about themselves, and you've just gone back to the start again.
"You can lose football matches, but you can't lose them like that. That's nowhere near good enough, it's not acceptable."
