Browns players are rallying around Shedeur Sanders

The Cleveland Browns will remain with Shedeur Sanders at quarterback, and a big reason why is his teammates.

Sanders helped the Browns pick up a big 24-10 road win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. After the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski wouldn’t name a starter, but on Monday, it was confirmed that Sanders will start again.

According to Browns insider John Greco, the players rallied around Sanders, which helped make the decision.

“Shedeur did enough to have them win the game,” Greco said on 92.3 The Fan. “I’m happy for him, it was awesome to see his dad in the stands. Obviously, I heard the comments of his teammates.

“He’s an electric personality and provided them a spark. You can tell everyone is circling the wagons and rallying behind him. We will see what they can do. San Francisco is very beatable.”

If Sanders can help the Browns beat the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, it would be a statement performance from the quarterback. But Greco believes Sanders just needs to continue to play his game as his teammates want to play for him.

In his first NFL start, Sanders went 11-of-20 for 209 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

Browns Coach Pleased With Sanders’ 1st NFL Start

Stefanski announced that Sanders will start again after a successful first start.

The rookie quarterback played well, and the Browns will remain with Sanders despite Dillon Gabriel being cleared from concussion protocol. After announcing the decision, Stefanski said it was due to him being impressed with how Sanders looked.

“Well, obviously, first start for any young quarterback, you’re always going to make sure the operation is how you want it, and I thought by and large was good,” Browns coach Stefanski said on Monday about Sanders. “There’s things that we can clean up and obviously that goes on all of us. That’s coaches, that’s the players, the quarterback, where we can clean up some of our operations. But I thought communication was really good throughout the day with him.

“And then like you mentioned, the big plays down the field, obviously that first one to I.B. (Isaiah Bond) was very high degree of difficulty with that play. Are there things that he can do better? Absolutely. We’ve already talked about that with him. He has the mentality that he will make the adjustments to the speed of the game, make the adjustments to what people are giving us, to make those improvements.”

Although Sanders played well on Sunday, he’s in for a tougher test against a stout 49ers defense.

Sanders Was Happy he Was Able to Show His Skills

In his first NFL start, Sanders had plenty of people rooting against him, and he was able to prove them wrong.

After his first start, Sanders said he was happy that he was able to prove everyone wrong and show he has the skills to be an NFL quarterback.

“Being a backup and everything, sometimes you have to compromise your personality and change the way you do things, to never step on anybody’s toes,” Sanders said. “The fact that I got an opportunity, and I was able to show the organization, show everybody who I really am, it’s truly exciting. I was off balance for a little bit, the past couple of months of my life, but it was different. But I’m thankful to be back where I am.”

Sanders is now looking to build off that and will look to remain the Browns’ starting quarterback going forward.
