Blowout Of The Week

Blowout Of The Week

November 25th, 2025

A data scientist who works for a failed sportsbook has data showing the Bucs were involved in the Blowout of the Week.

Joe is old enough to remember NFL Films had a 30-minute syndicated show each week called “Game of the Week,” and it was broken down to minute detail — all with the cool NFL Films music. Sometimes, this show was better than watching a live game.

Well, Hoppen has documentation that the Bucs-Rams game was the “Blowout of the Week.” Too bad NFL Films doesn’t turn this into a weekly 30-minute show.

Why does Joe call the Bucs’ heinous loss in Tinseltown the “Blowout of the Week?”

Well, Hoppen documented each team’s successful plays. The difference in successful plays between the winning and losing teams determines how close the game was. No game this past weekend had a larger differential than the Bucs’.

For those unaware, a successful play is when an offense gains at least 40 percent of the yards needed to convert on first downs, 60 percent on second downs or 100 percent on third- or fourth-downs.

There was a 20 percent difference between the number of Rams’ successful plays and the Bucs’ successful plays.

Yeah, Joe knows a big reason was Baker Mayfield only played the first half due to injury and Teddy Bridgewater looked like you’d think a high school coach would look like if he tried to walk into a live NFL game and line up behind center.
