Cleveland Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders finally made his NFL debut as a starting quarterback, and while the internet exploded with phrases and good reviews of his debut performance, analyst and critic Jason Whitlock was left unimpressed with what the rookie showed.
In a post on social media platform X, controversial analyst and sports commentator Jason Whitlock took a shot at Shedeur Sanders and highlighted how the NFL rookie made “the exact same behavior his father demonstrated.”

“Shedeur Sanders mimicked the exact same behavior his father demonstrated after Colorado beat TCU three years ago,” Whitlcok said on hispost. Prime Sexuals mimicked the exact same behavior they showed after Colorado beat TCU three years ago. When you don’t learn from history, you repeat it.”

Whitlock’s comment came as one in the wave of praises that Sanders has received following his debut with the Browns, including colorful words from President Donald Trump.
“Shedeur Sanders was GREAT,”Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Wins first game, career start, as a pro (for Cleveland). Great Genes. I TOLD YOU SO!”
During the 2025 draft day, Trump also backed Sanders and criticized franchise executives for passing on the then-college star.
Before being named the starter, Sanders had entered the game early in the season as a replacement for rookie Dillon Gabriel, who had been injured. Sanders struggled in that game and finished with only 4 completions on 16 attempts for 47 yards and 1 interception.
Shedeur Sanders Earns Praise from Ex-NFL Star For League Debut
Former Super Bowl champion and two-time Pro Bowler Trent Green was one of the many people from within and outside of the league that gave praise to rookie Shedeur Sanders after he made his debut with the Browns. In an interview, Green praised Sanders’ mental toughness when faced with tough sitatuions in the field.

“The fact that he was able to come back off of that performance he had last week where he was 4-of-16, it was a bad game,” Green said. “But you don’t get a lot of reps. You’re a young quarterback, you get thrown into a situation like that. I love the way that he responded.”
While Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski gave positive words for Shedeur Sanders, he refused to give a definitive comment on the rookie becoming a permanent starter. Sanders, on the other hand, had expressed confidence in his future role in the league and expressed his readiness to prove doubters wrong.
