‘I Can No Longer Defend Him’‘Choose Another Sport’Fans Criticise Man Utd Star After Everton Loss

Man Utd wingback Patrick Dorgu’s first year at Old Trafford has been pretty underwhelming, to say the least.

The Denmark international has failed to really establish himself on the left flank since moving from Lecce last January.

Dorgu’s ineffective display against Everton on Monday evening summed up his start to life at the Red Devils, with head coach Ruben Amorim opting to replace him with Diogo Dalot before the hour mark. After the game, fans on X did not hold back in their criticism:

Dorgu should choose another sport

Looks like he just wanted to get rid of that ball. He could have taken a touch, moved infield and then shoot. Or even look up, Ahmad was free in the Everton box. Im so angry at him. This was a real chance to score.

Dorgu has not shown what he’s capable of

The statistics are pretty damning. Despite playing in what many regard to be an attacking role, the 21-year-old has produced 0 goals and just 2 assists in 32 appearances for United.

In stark contrast, Amad Diallo, who has started 17 games as a wingback on the opposite flank during his time with the Red Devils, has scored 5 goals and provided 6 assists.

How patient should Man Utd fans be with the player?

Some may argue that Dorgu just needs more time to flourish in a United shirt, but many struggle to see the potential in the Dane.

He has shown next to nothing in terms of crossing or finishing ability, while his defensive qualities are average at best. One thing is for certain: he needs more competition than Dalot for his place in the starting eleven.
