The presence of Jordon Hudson has become a talking point at North Carolina as head coach Bill Belichick ends his first season, transitioning from the NFL to the college game. The 24-year-old girlfriend of Belichick has drawn attention for her involvement in communications at the school, according to a new report by [ESPN](https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/47086934/bill-belichick-legacy-north-carolina-tar-heels-football).
Shortly after Belichick’s December 2024 hire, emails obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request showed Hudson was copied on internal correspondence at the university despite not holding an official role.
"(Hudson) demanded to know whether the university was actively monitoring the school's Facebook page 'for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it/blocking users that are harassing (Belichick) in the comments.'"
The university was following standard guidelines regarding threats and hate speech, which prompted a follow-up from Hudson. She responded, "I understand what the policy is -- are we doing anything to enforce or monitor it?"
This wasn't her only concern either. The topic of nepotism came up with Hudson emailing UNC officials saying, "I would like to preventatively raise awareness regarding a sometimes subtle, sometimes obvious, frequently occurring detail within media releases and social media posts."
The ensuing scrutiny reached a peak when the school denied rumors she had been banned from the football facility. “While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities,” UNC said in a public statement.
Belichick has publicly addressed the matter. “It’s a personal relationship, and she doesn’t have anything to do with football,” he told ESPN. Yet questions linger because Hudson has been linked to branding efforts for Belichick’s move to Chapel Hill, and her frequent sideline appearances make her a visible figure in a program facing growing pains.
This led to an email from a professor on campus to athletic director Bubba Cunningham. Christopher B. McLaughlin, who teaches law and government in Chapel Hill, wrote Cunningham with the subject line "please end this circus." The message was very direct and to the point.
"When you agreed to pay a king's ransom to hire Bill Belichick, did you also know that you were hiring Jordon Hudson to serve as the primary face of UNC athletics?"
As the Tar Heels navigate Belichick’s first college season, the focus remains on the field. But Hudson’s role continues to fuel conversation in Chapel Hill and shows how the dynamic has been tied into the football program’s narrative.
