Manchester United and Liverpool have both been credited with historic interest in the Real Madrid star.
Ruben Amorim will be furious that his side couldn’t capitalise against 10 man Everton on Monday night, as they lost 1-0 to end a run of five games unbeaten under Amorim. United now sit three points off the top four, and missed out on the chance to climb up the table.
The Man United boss has previously said that he’s happy with his current squad, but no doubt others will disagree. The Red Devils still aren’t anywhere near where they used to be, and so if the chance to sign a world-class player arises, then they surely won’t be able to turn it down.
Both Man United and Liverpool are said to have had historic interest in a Real Madrid star, who has suggested that he could leave the Bernabeu within the next two years due to not signing a contract extension.
Man United and Liverpool on Vinicius Jr alert
Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr is one of the best attackers in world football. The Brazilian star has scored 111 goals in 339 games for Real Madrid since he joined the Spanish giants in 2018. However, his current contract is due to expire in 2027, and the 25-year-old doesn’t seem to be keen on signing a new deal.
According to The Athletic, Vinicius will not sign a new contract with Real Madrid at the moment due to his current relationship with manager Xabi Alonso. That means that he could leave as a free agent in June 2027, should Madrid decide not to sell him before then. It would be a huge loss for Real Madrid as he is estimated to be worth around £130m.
Furthermore, as reported in The Mirror, Vinicius made his feelings known in a recent meeting with club President Fiorentino Perez. He was reportedly angry at getting substituted early in a game, and was heard saying: “Always me, I’m leaving the team, it’s better if I leave, I’m leaving.”
How could Vinicius Jr fit into the Man Utd side?
The Madrid winger is undoubtedly one of the fastest, most electric and clinical attackers in the world. He can play either as a winger, or as a centre-forward, which would be ideal for Amorim’s front three style.
Man United play a striker with two ‘wide attacking midfielders’ behind him, almost acting as two number tens. That is the position that the 25-year-old would likely occupy for United, alongside Bryan Mbeumo, with Matheus Cunha likely playing as more of a striker in front of the pair.
That would have to be considered one of the best front threes in world football. Furthermore, Cunha is already familiar with Vinicius Jr, as the duo play together for the Brazil national team under Carlo Ancelotti.
