Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has expressed his excitement to have wide receiver George Pickens on the roster. Pickens arrived in Dallas after an offseason trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
While surrounded by doubts given his on- and off-field controversies in Pittsburgh, Pickens settled in just fine with the Cowboys. So much so that many are calling for the team to retain Pickens long-term.

During a Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones made it clear he wants Pickens to stay with the team beyond this season.
“We have two No. 1 receivers,” Jones said, via Jon Machota on X. “… There’s nothing we can gain from speculating (about his contract today). The bottom line is we’re in good shape. … He’s playing better than we ever could have anticipated. He’s an outstanding teammate.”

Pickens is still playing under his four-year, $6.7 million rookie deal. The Cowboys already have a superstar wide receiver in CeeDee Lamb, but the two alphas have fed off each other on the way to a 5-5-1 record amid a two-game winning streak.

The Georgia product recorded one of his best performances in the season, catching nine passes for 146 yards and one touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
For the season, Pickens has recorded 67 receptions for 1,054 yards and eight touchdowns. His receptions and touchdowns are both career highs. These numbers have outpaced the production of all five Steelers wide receivers combined. DK Metcalf, Steelers’ WR1 this season, has 25 fewer catches (42) and 527 fewer yards (573), and half of Pickens’ touchdowns (five).

Dallas’ playoff chances are well alive after they came back from a 21-point deficit against the Eagles. They prepare for a special game on Thursday, as they receive the Kansas City Chiefs for this year’s Thanksgiving duel.
The Cowboys showed that they aren’t done against the Eagles, with Pickens and Lamb helping quarterback Dak Prescott lead the team to a much-needed win. Beating the Chiefs on Thursday would elevate their expectations.
