Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has ended his partnership with Under Armour, and reports indicate that WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark played a part in the separation. According to Sports Business Journal, Curry’s decision to leave Under Armour stemmed from his frustration with the brand’s lack of sales and underinvestment. Curry was also reportedly let down by Under Armour’s failed attempt to recruit Clark to the brand, ultimately losing Clark to Nike. The brand saw its basketball department grow exponentially with Curry as an ambassador. Curry has been taking full advantage of his “shoe freedom” since the split from Under Armour, rocking a variety of different kicks before, during, and after games. Whichever brand signs Curry next is still getting a player at or near the peak of his powers, despite his 37 years. Curry is averaging 28.8 points per game for the Warriors in his 17th NBA season.
