For the second season in a row, PSV will meet Liverpool FC in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League. The previous encounter was in January of this year, when PSV won 3-2 at home. Back then, the English were already qualified for the next round and PSV was also very close, but this time both sides still have everything to play for.
On Jan. 29, 2025, five goals were scored in the eighth league phase game. Liverpool took the lead twice: once through Cody Gakpo (28') and again through Harvey Elliott (40'). At PSV, Johan Bakayoko (36'), Ismael Saibari (45') and Ricardo Pepi (45+6') accounted for the goals. All goals thus fell in the first half. With the victory, PSV definitely qualified for the next round, beating Juventus over two matches.
PSV visited Anfield three times. Three times without result: 2-0 (2006), 1-0 (2007) and 3-1 (2008).
