Barcelona among top clubs monitoring 17-year-old Egyptian striker – report

FC Barcelona are always on the lookout for top young talents across the globe with potential and promise.

In the past, the Catalans’ scouting efforts used to be focused largely on the South American continent, but they have expanded their network in Africa in recent years.

With players like Mamadou Mbacke, Mika Faye, and Ibrahima Diarra, among others, being signed in recent windows, Barça continue to keep an eye on the African market.

Hamza Abdelkarim on Barcelona’s radar

Now, according to reports in Egypt, as relayed by AS, Barcelona are monitoring Al Ahly teenage striker Hamza Abdelkarim.

Just 17 years old, the centre-forward has made two senior appearances for the African club, while he has scored 12 goals in 19 matches for the Egyptian U-17 national team. Two of those goals came in the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup from four games.

As per the report, Barcelona are not the only top European club looking at Abdelkarim, as Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also tracking the teenage forward.

Given the Blaugrana’s track record of blooding youngsters from youth ranks in recent seasons, it might give them an edge over their competition in the race for Abdelkarim.

However, at this point, it is still unclear is the La Liga champions are pursuing the youngster with strong interest or whether they are just tracking his progress from afar.
