Ruben Amorim missed biggest Sir Alex Ferguson tactic of all in Everton loss, Man Utd had everything to gain from it –…

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim overlooked one of the biggest messages in the playbook of Sir Alex Ferguson during the Everton match on Monday evening.

Ruben Amorim has now faced immense criticism in the disappointing aftermath of the Red Devils’ first Premier League match in the post-November international break.

What did you think of Ruben Amorim’s post-game comments after the loss to Everton?

“I feel afraid of returning of this feeling of last season, that is my biggest concern. So we need to work together, we are going to work together.”

Manchester United hosted Everton at Old Trafford and the Red Devils were left chasing a 1-0 scoreline against a 10-man side for the majority of the match.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall opened the scoring for David Moyes’ men in the 29th minute, only 16 minutes after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for a wild incident.

Everton took their 1-0 lead into half-time and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s stunning strike ultimately turned out to be the winner for the Toffees on the night as well.

United manager Ruben Amorim made poor changes as well, with Kobbie Mainoo, Diogo Dalot and Mason Mount all coming off the bench in the second half.

The 40-year-old ex-Sporting CP manager’s picks made no difference to the tide of momentum in the match and Amorim still had options that he could have chosen.

There was only one real attacking change left for Amorim and the United boss did not do a Sir Alex Ferguson-esque move by turning to academy talent Shea Lacey.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s remarks show that the iconic former Man Utd manager would have looked at Shea Lacey as an option

Sir Alex Ferguson practised what he preached during his legendary United reign and the iconic Scotsman’s faith in the United youth academy is the biggest proof of all.

United’s beloved ‘Class of ‘92’ is the perfect example of the trust that Ferguson had in young players and the impact that they had at Old Trafford spoke volumes.

However, Ferguson rolled the dice on one-off occasions with youngsters as well, including with Federico Macheda’s famous winner against Aston Villa in 2009.

Man Utd icon Sir Alex Ferguson perfectly captures the ethos of believing in youngsters 🔥👏

Giving young people an opportunity is a fantastic thing and they very seldom let you down. These lads never let me down when they put that jersey on.

Speaking at the opening of Salford City’s Peninsula Stadium in 2017, iconic former United manager Ferguson reaffirmed his long-held stance on youth players.

“Giving young people an opportunity is a fantastic thing and they very seldom let you down,” he said, as per Training Ground Guru in 2017.

“These lads never let me down when they put that jersey on.”

Shea Lacey’s United first-team debut will have to wait, but Amorim missed a textbook opportunity to roll the dice in the same way as Ferguson would have done.
