It is unclear how long Arne Slot will remain as Liverpool manager if results continue as they are.
Nottingham Forest hammered the Reds 3-0 this past Saturday, leading supporters to call for a Slot replacement.
A Jurgen Klopp return has been discussed, while Xabi Alonso is open to joining Liverpool, according to a report that broke on Tuesday evening.

It is thought that the Spaniard’s job at Real Madrid is not 100% safe right now despite Los Blancos sitting top of La Liga.
Do you want to see Xabi Alonso replace Arne Slot?
Why Xabi Alonso did not join Liverpool in 2024
Speaking in June 2024, Alonso was asked about not joining Liverpool as the successor to Klopp.
He was still Bayer Leverkusen manager at the time and had just pipped Bayern Munich to the German title.
Alonso seemed to suggest that the reason he did not return to Anfield was that he was happy with what he had at Leverkusen.

The Spaniard said: “All these decisions, they need to be thorough. You need to really think about them. And it was more about what I had, not what I’m missing.
“For sure, my bond with Liverpool is there and it’s still there. So there’s no, any kind of issue with that.”

Real Madrid treatment could lead Xabi Alonso to Liverpool
A fair comment at the time, given Bayer Leverkusen were dominating the Bundesliga, and the Spaniard seemed to have a lot of respect at the club.
At Madrid, however, it does appear as though, from the outside looking in, there is respect for the former Liverpool man.
Reporting this week, Jorge Picon wrote: “Whether the coach is to blame or not, Xabi Alonso’s situation is becoming untenable. Several players (more than people realize) want a change. And important voices in the front office are beginning to see it as necessary. An explosive cocktail.”
Such a claim makes little sense given Real are still above Barcelona in the league and remain in the top eight of the Champions League table, three points off top spot.
If reports that the players want Xabi out are indeed true, though, it’s hard to see the Spaniard wanting to stick around.
He seemed to be a beloved figure at Leverkusen, but if that is not the case at Madrid, his previous reason for not joining Liverpool is no longer relevant.
