Titans QB Cam Ward shows improvement in loss to Seahawks

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Despite a six-point loss that dropped the Tennessee Titans to 1-10 on the season, rookie quarterback Cam Ward showed improvement in certain facets of the game.

Particularly, Ward did not turn the ball over, tallied a career-high six rushing attempts - one of which resulted in a touchdown - and he took what the defense gave him.

A day after that performance, interim head coach Mike McCoy liked what he saw on tape.

“I think there’s some—the great thing you saw yesterday is the first pass of the game,“ said McCoy.

“That’s something we’ve talked in here with you guys about him running at times, and then you always talked about when you’re playing the Chargers with (Justin) Herbert, all of a sudden he sees something open up as he’s going through his from—you go across the board in progression, and Cam (Ward) saw crease and just took it. He knew he can pick up and get some yards off that, and that’s something that he did yesterday. So I think yesterday, he took that next step in making plays with his feet. Now the next thing he needs to learn to do is when he’s out of that pocket, get rid of that ball a little quicker and not take some of those hits. So that’s kind of the coaching point we talked about today is don’t take the unnecessary hits at times, but very pleased with the way he played. You know, there’s a couple plays that you wish he had back also."

Ward led the team with 37 rushing yards and completed 28 of 42 passes for 256 total yards and a touchdown.

The Titans return to Nissan Stadium this Sunday to host the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Kickoff is set for noon.
