The Pittsburgh Steelers made a handful of practice squad moves on Tuesday. Per the team’s press release, the Steelers signed WR Cornell Powell and DL Anthony Goodlow to the practice squad. In corresponding moves, CB Daequan Hardy and ILB Mark Robinson were released from the practice squad.
Goodlow’s signing was reported yesterday by his agency. Pittsburgh visited with him in 2024 and again earlier this year before inking him ahead of Week 13’s game. While the initial reason for Goodlow’s addition was unknown, Mike Tomlin announced Tuesday first-rounder Derrick Harmon would miss Sunday’s game due to a knee injury sustained during Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. Needing additional depth brought Goodlow to the roster.
Powell is a former fifth round pick of the 2021 NFL Draft of the Kansas City Chiefs. He appeared in three games as a rookie but did not catch a pass on only three offensive snaps. He saw more action on special teams with 28 reps.
Since, he’s bounced around teams and leagues, including a stint with the UFL’s D.C. Defenders in the spring of 2025 but did not register any stats. The Houston Texans signed him during training camp in mid-August but released him one week later during final cuts.
A productive receiver at Clemson, Powell measured in at 6002, 205 pounds during the pre-draft process. He ran a 4.53 40 yard dash with a 36.5-inch vertical. Our scouting report noted Powell as a developmental “glue guy” who played with A-plus effort. Mike Tomlin added his Tigers’ Pro Day.
Hardy and Robinson were added to the Steelers’ practice squad earlier this season. Hardy was brought in as CB Beanie Bishop Jr.’s replacement. A local native from Penn Hills, the team never elevated Hardy to the Active/Inactive roster. He was originally a sixth round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2024.
Robinson returned for a second stint with the team after being waived during final cutdowns. He latched on with the New England Patriots before being cut and signed back to the Steelers’ practice squad. He was elevated twice due to Cole Holcomb’s illness that caused him to miss three games. Robinson played only on special teams, logging 10 total snaps, and did not see action on defense.
