Steelers Release Updated Depth Chart For Week 13

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released an updated depth chart ahead of their Week 13 game against the Buffalo Bills.

There are no changes from last week, but still plenty to ponder due to multiple starters dealing with injuries.

Despite James Pierre playing the overwhelming majority of snaps in last week’s game compared to Darius Slay, Pierre remains a third-team corner while Slay holds the top spot opposite Joey Porter Jr. Slay will likely remain the starter in name only, while Pierre gets the starter’s share of the snaps. This week may play out differently if Joey Porter Jr.’s injury limits him at all throughout the week.

The other two spots of interest on the depth chart are on the offensive and defensive lines. OT Broderick Jones and DT Derrick Harmon were both ruled out during Mike Tomlin’s Tuesday press conference.

According to the depth chart, that means Calvin Anderson will be the next man up at left tackle while fellow rookie Yahya Black is the next up at defensive tackle. Tomlin addressed these positions during his press conference, saying he’s not sure who will start at left tackle between Anderson and Andrus Peat.

For what it’s worth, Peat was inactive while Anderson filled in for Jones late in the game after his injury. Peat is capable at both tackle and guard, but they’ve mostly had him at guard this season dating back to his earliest practices with the team.

Black could also share snaps with Brodric Martin-Rhodes and Esezi Otomewo. Martin-Rhodes just signed with the team at the beginning of the month, but he’s already listed as the top backup to Cameron Heyward, ahead of Otomewo, on the depth chart.

Logan Lee has been inactive on game day for most of the season, but he could also factor into the plan as well as DeMarvin Leal, Kyler Baugh and newly signed Anthony Goodlow on the practice squad.

Another thing to note, CB Asante Samuel Jr. remains a strong option to sign to the active roster soon. Mike Tomlin rarely ever addresses practice squad players in his press conferences, but mentioned Samuel has been “working his tail off” to get ready for the team since signing.
