His fiancée Katya Kuropas recently posted a heartwarming video showing the 22-year-old signal-caller in full adorable dad mode with their newborn son Rome.

Kuropas hit Instagram with a video of McCarthy playing with baby Rome Micah McCarthy, who arrived in September. The clip shows the QB making goofy faces and sticking his tongue out at his son, who couldn’t stop giggling. She captioned the adorable clip simply with an emoji, letting the moment speak for itself.

The couple announced Rome’s birth earlier this year. “Half of me + half of you,” Kuropas wrote in her Instagram post. They’ve been together since high school and got engaged in January 2024. After seven years of riding shotgun through McCarthy’s college days at Michigan and now his NFL journey, they’re planning their wedding.

Last month, Kuropas marked their anniversary with a tribute, penning, “7 years, 2 dogs and 1 baby later & I love you more than I did when we were 15. Happy anniversary love, our last one before we get married!”

While family life brings smiles in her face, his performance on the turf tells a different story.

McCarthy Battles Through Difficult Debut Campaign

The former Michigan Wolverine missed his entire first year after going down with an injury. This season, he’s logged six appearances, throwing for 929 yards as the Vikings stumble to a 4-7 record through 11 games.

The team grabbed an opening week W against Chicago, but consistency has been tough to find. McCarthy continues developing his pro game while Sam Darnold handles most of the snaps under center.

Currently, he is the only player below McCarthy; JaMarcus Russell, the Raiders’ infamous first-round bust, is synonymous with draft failure. That’s the only company McCarthy has at the bottom of this barrel.

The Vikings’ front office says they believe in McCarthy, but his stats tell another story. As Minnesota heads to Seattle for Week 13, the quarterback faces a struggling season.

Off the field, the video serves as a reminder that family matters just as much as football, and sometimes the most meaningful victories occur away from the game.
