Estevao Willian never fails to deliver.
You just knew, wherever you throw him in, he’s going to swim rather than sink. And that’s just what we’ve seen tonight.
Handed a huge Champions League start against Barcelona, the stage was set. And boy has he delivered. He’s just dashed down the right wing, shaken off a couple of defenders and then lashed the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle to make it 2-0.
Another magical moment from a magical player. You can see that even the Chelsea player celebrating can’t believe what they’ve seen.

Estevao couldn’t be pushing any harder for first team starts, but we also like the way he’s being used. Whether starting midweek games like this one, or coming on as a late match winner in the Premier League, he’s a proper menace. Arsenal should be worried. Cole Palmer may not be fit for Sunday’s game, but Estevao will be salivating at the chance to tear apart another big game.
Can Maresca withhold the pressure to start him once again? It’s a fascinating question which is already going to be a talking point of the weekend.
“You know what? Start believing the hype! Estevao Willian is EXTRA special! The way he goes past the first player, there is no space whatsoever and he leaves him for dead. He did it just by pure skill and fast feet.”
In other news…
Chelsea opened the scoring in this game through Pedro Neto, who turned in a nice flick after Marc Cucurella drove down the right.
January transfer silly season has started with a bang – a very unlikely story of double interest in two Porto players at the same time.
