Liverpool will look to the Champions League for relief on Wednesday when PSV visit Anfield, after suffering back-to-back 3-0 Premier League defeats.

Last season, the Eredivisie leaders defeated the Reds in the group stage, but that match was a dead rubber, with Arne Slot’s side topping the group after making wholesale changes.

This time, however, much more is at stake, particularly the chance to restore confidence after another morale-sapping performance at the weekend.

The Reds are in a strong position in the Champions League group, having won three of their four matches so far, but back-to-back 3-0 losses in the Premier League have clearly dented morale.

Slot appears set to work with the same squad that was available for Saturday’s disappointing home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, the quarter-final and potential semi-final ties of the Subway Women’s League Cup have now been confirmed.

The draw was conducted by GK Barry and Ella Rutherford on the Barclays Women’s Super League TikTok account on Tuesday.

Liverpool FC Women will host Chelsea in the quarter-finals. The Reds progressed from the group stage with a perfect record of three wins from three.

Quarter-final matches are scheduled for December 19-21.

Should Liverpool advance, they would face either West Ham United or Manchester City in the semi-finals in January.
