ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported on X that league sources anticipate five additional NFL teams could have head coaching openings, with data collection ongoing for a potential sixth. This would expand the current two vacancies significantly as the season progresses.

Anderson also noted that a longtime NFL head coach is contemplating a change of scenery and has confided these thoughts to others. If the coach decides to leave, it would further swell the list of available positions. The coach’s identity was not disclosed in the report.
