Chelsea wonderkid Estevao emulates Mbappe with goal in Barcelona win

Estevao doubled Chelsea’s lead against Barcelona with a superb strike

Estevao stole the show as Chelsea recorded a statement win over Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The first meeting between the two European heavyweights since 2018 went the way of the Blues as a Jules Kounde own goal broke the deadlock three minutes shy of the half hour mark.

Barcelona were then left with a huge mountain to climb after Ronald Araujo was sent-off on the stroke of half-time for two bookable offences and Chelsea made the extra man count in the second half.

While Liam Delap ended his goal drought to put a seal on a dominant victory for the Blues, it was Estevao’s goal which made it 2-0 that will be remembered for a long time.

The Brazilian skipped past Pau Cubarsi, held off Alejandro Balde and thumped a shot past goalkeeper Joan Garcia at his near post for his third Champions League goal of the season.

In doing so, Estevao has become the second youngest player in Champions League history to score in his first three starts in the competition after previously finding the net against Ajax and Qarabag.

Speaking to Amazon Prime afterwards, Estevao said: "It really was the perfect night. [My goal] was such a special moment for me in my career. From the moment I arrived here, I felt such a connection with the fans.

“I'm just so happy I could score for them and make them happy. I hope to keep making them happy and score more for them."

"I don't really have any words to sum up how I am feeling. It was all very quick for me. I found some space and wiggled my way through. I hope I keep scoring for many more years. My family were here to watch.”
