Liverpool will host PSV Eindhoven at Anfield on Wednesday night, with an 8pm GMT kick-off, in the fifth round of the Champions League league phase.
Historically, matches against PSV have favoured the Reds, who have won five of seven previous encounters, including three at Anfield.
However, this streak could face one of its toughest tests yet.
PSV will be aware of Liverpool’s strong record against Dutch opposition at Anfield, seven wins and two draws in the last nine meetings, as well as the Reds’ 16-match winning streak in group-stage European games at their home ground.
Despite this, Liverpool have rarely appeared so vulnerable.
The defending Dutch champions arrive unbeaten in 11 games across all competitions but have had a mixed start to this season’s European campaign, recording one win, two draws, and one loss in their first four matches.
PSV recovered well from a shock 3-1 defeat by Union Saint-Gilloise on matchday one, securing 1-1 away draws against Bayer Leverkusen and Olympiacos either side of a 6-2 demolition of Antonio Conte’s Napoli.
Summer signings Alassane Plea and Ruben van Bommel are currently sidelined with injuries.
“It’s the same [players] who are actually fit,” said Peter Bosz.
“We’ve got little niggles and tiredness, but if you play here you’re not going to feel any niggles and tiredness, if you play at such a stadium as this.”
Eredivisie leaders come into the clash with a win over NAC Breda last Saturday, where coach Peter Bosz fielded the same starting XI for the fifth consecutive match.
He added: “We’re going to try to play football, dare to play football. So, when you’re better in possession then it’s easier than when you have to defend.
“Really important game, also with the points at stake. But this is the same way in every match in the Champions League.
“[I will tell the players] that we have to be PSV, the way we want to play. Liverpool are the same, they have got their own way of playing.
“So, tomorrow it’s all about who is going to do that the best.”
